Don Bosco Ashalayam Association

Ashalayam Support Association: Restoring hope and dignity to the street children in Calcutta.

Founded in 1985, Don Bosco Ashalayam is an Indian NGO working with the street children in Calcutta, irrespective of race, religion or gender.

This year, alongside the rugby world cup, a tour of France will be organised from September 18 to October 14. It will provide many sporting, cultural and professional encounters for a team of young Indian rugby players who are former street children now living in Ashalayam association homes. Rugby gives these children a purpose in life, by providing a discipline, team spirit and by teaching them to respect others, these being fundamental values in this sport.

The René Lacoste Foundation is supporting this project and is contributing towards the organisation of this event by helping to finance the trip to be made by these young Indian children next September.

The event is sponsored by Fabien Galthié, former captain of the French rugby team.
