The René Lacoste Foundation is proud to announce its support of the Andy Roddick Youth Tennis program for children with financial needs in San Antonio, Texas.
The objectives of this pilot program are to reach out to elementary school students who do not
All 5th graders enrolled in the local public school Cleto Rodriguez Elementary will be participating in this fun, empowering and potentially life changing adventure for one semester as part of their Physical Education class requirement.
Additionally, an innovative and exciting After School Tennis Program will be offered to local K-5th graders twice a week from 3:15 to 5:00pm taught by university educators from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio, the host university, and site of tennis facilities for the program. In addition to one hour of tennis, the After School program will focus on the following topics:
1. Teaching the health and wellness benefits of tennis,
2. Nutrition and making healthy lifelong choices,
3. Social, career and academic potential development,
4. Values for life skills,
5. Guest speakers,
6. Mentoring programs,
The opening ceremonies and inauguration of the Andy Roddick Youth Tennis Program took place on October 3rd a 4.00 pm on the OLLU tennis courts with special guests including Andy Roddick.
