The aim of this association, which was created in 1994 by Christine Janin, a doctor and mountaineer, is to help children suffering from cancer to “heal better”, but also to help their families through the different psychological steps of the disease,
The specificity of this association lies in particular in the richness of the parallel between the difficulty of climbing to the top of a mountain and the path to recovery. Invited on a 7-day getaway at la Maison A chacun son Everest in Chamonix, the children learn to:
I. Break away from the family
II. Share their experience with other sick children
III. Rebuild their self-confidence, change the way others look at them
IV. Free themselves from the weight of words (cancer, leukaemia ………).
The children face a sporting challenge: to reach their own summit, in a win-win situation, through the different activities proposed throughout the week.
15 to 20 children or adolescents meet up in Chamonix to take part in these “A chacun son Everest” programmes. The association pays all the costs.
The René Lacoste Foundation is to subsidise a one-week course.
